The Edmonton Chapter of the Manning Foundation for Innovation is gearing up for its fall symposium.

This year’s Celebration of Innovation takes place starting at noon on Saturday, October 25th at the Telus World of Science in Edmonton.

The theme this year is robotics, with a special interactive look at drones.

Sol Rolingher is Chair of the Edmonton Chapter.

SOL ROLINGHER:  At one oclock we have our first speaker who is Dr. Patrick Pilarski, He comes from the Faculty of Medicine, Rehab Medicine actually, at the University of Alberta, and he’s going to talk about technological robotics.  And then he’ll be followed by Dr. Bin Zhang in the Faculty of Medicine talking about entrepreneurial robotics.  And that speaks about how robots are used in things like surgeries.

And then we’re going to end the day with probably most fun part of it all on drones.  And we’ve got two presenters, one is about the kind of drones that  people are now buying in toy stores and making at home.  And then we end up with somebody from the Edmonton Police Service, and I don’t want let the cat out of the bag on this one, but you’re going to learn what EPS is doing with drones.

The  Celebration of Innovation also includes student displays.
