Geomatics does more than guide you with Google maps to the nearest restaurant or tourist destination.
It’s also an important technology that helps in the mapping of forest fires, water resources, as well as surveying for oil and gas.
An agency helping small and medium size companies develop and commercialize this new technology is TecTerra Inc.
TecTerra’s CEO Dr. Mohamed Abousalem. explains.
DR. MOHAMED ABOUSALEM: What we like to do and what we actually do is we invest in projects. So a company would come forward with an application describing the market problem they are trying to address, and the technology solution they are going to build to address the problem and their business forecast, their revenue and profit forecast. And we assess the application and if awarded, then we would provide them with funds ranging from 100,000 to 500,000 dollars per project and that is on a one to a one to one matching basis. And we help the as a catalyst for their success.
Dr. Abousalem says TecTerra also funds geomatics companies to hire highly qualified professionals.
