{"id":898,"date":"2010-10-26T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2010-10-26T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.innovationanthology.com\/import\/2018\/02\/01\/innovation-anthology-348\/"},"modified":"2018-02-25T21:30:20","modified_gmt":"2018-02-25T21:30:20","slug":"innovation-anthology-348","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.innovationanthology.com\/import\/2010\/10\/26\/innovation-anthology-348\/","title":{"rendered":"Innovation Anthology #348:"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/innovationanthology.com\/uploads\/Innovation Anthology 348.mp3\">Download MP3 Link<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\nFor several years, <b>Dr. Michel Tousignant<\/b> of Montreal has researched the high rate of <b>suicide among aboriginal youth<\/b> in northern Quebec.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nHe\u2019s observed an underlying sense of hopelessness for those who take their lives.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nAnd even though the <b>residential school program<\/b> ended decades ago, Dr. Tousignant cites fallout from that program as one of factors leading to high suicide rates.\n<\/p>\n<p><b><br \/>\nDR. MICHEL TOUSIGNANT: <\/b><em>Because a lot of people were taken to residential schools, they lost the  sense of what is a family.  And when they came back and had children they were completely lost as to  what to do with children because they had never been in a family.  And they had been abused on many levels at the school.  And so they were also I would say psychologically broken and because they had a lot of trauma that also is associated with alcohol consumption.
