And the building definitely lives up to its namesake.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nThe building is shaped like a half moon with three wings.  And as CEO <b>Nancy Knowlton <\/b>explains, reducing <b>environmental impact <\/b>was a key element of the building\u2019s innovative design.\n<\/p>\n<p><b><br \/>\nNANCY KNOWLTON:<\/b><em> We attempted to recycle as much as we possibly could out of the waste that came from the construction process.       The systems that we have put into place within the building will reduce by 50 percent the energy consumption that this building will have compared to a typical building that is not constructed to the LEED gold standard.  <\/em>\n<\/p>\n<p>\nThe new SMART Technologies building is also designed to accommodate a traveling workforce.\n<\/p>\n<p><b><br \/>\nNANCY KNOWLTON:<\/b><em> They would have a hoteling concept.
