After months of consultation, Alberta&rsquo;s Minister of Advanced Education and Technology, <strong>Doug Horner,<\/strong> has introduced <strong>Bill 27 <\/strong>to the provincial legislature. <\/p>\n<p> According to the Minister, the endowment funds for <em>Alberta Ingenuity <\/em>and the <em>Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research<\/em> will be maintained.    But the many research institutes and agencies that have been created in recent years will be merged into just four entities. <\/p>\n<p><strong> DOUG HORNER: <\/strong><em>So what we&rsquo;re doing is we&rsquo;re bringing them together to give focus.  I wouldn&rsquo;t say streamlining so much  as focus. So what we&rsquo;ve said is let&rsquo;s have an institute that&rsquo;s responsible for answering questions in health.  Let&rsquo;s have an institute that responsible for answering questions in energy and the environment.  And let&rsquo;s have an institute that&rsquo;s responsible for answering questions within the biosciences sphere.
