{"id":1835,"date":"2015-09-15T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-09-15T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.innovationanthology.com\/import\/2018\/02\/01\/innovation-anthology-715\/"},"modified":"2018-02-25T21:31:06","modified_gmt":"2018-02-25T21:31:06","slug":"innovation-anthology-715","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.innovationanthology.com\/import\/2015\/09\/15\/innovation-anthology-715\/","title":{"rendered":"Innovation Anthology #715:"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/innovationanthology.com\/uploads\/Innovation Anthology 715.mp3\">Download MP3 Link<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We don&#8217;t know why, but Alberta has a higher incidence of inflammatory bowel disease than other parts of the world. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>And in recent years, there appears to be an increase in the number of children who are developing this disease, <\/p>\n<p>Dr. Shairaz Baksh is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Alberta.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">DR.  SHAIRAZ BAKSH: <\/span>&nbsp; <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">We&#8217;re seeing a lot of cases of what&#8217;s called early  onset IBD. &nbsp;And actually they classify it as very early onset IBD, which  is is usually at &nbsp;age 6 or younger . So it is a problem and it&#8217;s now  recognized as a pediatric disorder. &nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Children with Inflammatory  Bowel disease tend to miss a lot of school due to their illness, and  their risk for developing cancer later is life is higher.<br \/><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><br \/>DR.
