\nThe delivery of health care<\/b> is constantly under attack for a variety of reasons.\n<\/p>\n


\nAlberta Innovate Health Solutions<\/b> hopes that through the appointment of health researcher Dr. Lee Green,<\/b> some of the problems around primary health care can be eliminated.\n<\/p>\n

\nDr. Green comes from Michigan to take up the first Alberta Innovates Health Solutions Chair in Translational Health<\/b> at the University of Alberta.\n<\/p>\n


\nDR. LEE GREEN: <\/b> We know a great deal about the best way to take care of patients with a wide variety of conditions. We also know that we don’t really do all that well at delivering those things very consistently. Translational research is the process of learning how to do that better. Getting more dependable, getting more patient centred, how we get the care to patients. It means things like studying the best way to educate patients, studying the best way to organize practices, It means changing how we structure the whole delivery system if we need to. Basically it all comes down to how do we take what we know basic science has taught us and turn it into value for patients. <\/em>\n<\/p>\n

\nDr. Green says the keys to positive change are commitment over time and earning the trust of healthcare providers.\n<\/p>\n

It is a agency  of the Government of Alberta. We receive a yearly allocation from the Ministry of Health and report through the ministry to the people of Alberta.<\/p>\n

Our Mandate and Roles document reflects our role and responsibilities and outlines the government statues and regulations with which we comply.<\/p>\n

Alberta’s Health Research and Innovation Strategy (AHRIS) sets out Alberta’s health research agenda for the coming decade to ensure our considerable investments in research align with our priority—to improve the health of Albertans.<\/p>\n
