Emerald Awards 2012: Landmark Homes Wins For Big Business

Winner in the big business category at the 2012 Emerald Awards for Environmental Excellence is the Landmark Group of Builders in Edmonton.

Over the last nine years, the company has researched and tested an innovative panel technology for building homes.

Landmark’s Chief Operating Officer is Bijan Mannani.

BIJAN MANNANI: Panelization is a process that we are utilizating semi-robots to manufacture any size of home Modelling it in a three dimensional process. Then the machines will build that panel, then we will erect it at site, in a fraction of the time.

According to Bijan Mannani, on average the panelized process reduces construction waste by 58 percent, green house gas emissions by 6.2 tonnes, and the energy demand of a house over its lifespan by 73 percent.

As well, Landmark is not patenting its technology.

BIJAN MANNANI: If you have got future generations in mind, why would you want to patent it? You want to start a revolution, it means that If more people are building more responsibly in the right way, everybody would be better off.
