SFM Network Receives Coveted CIF National Award

10/05/2009

Edmonton - The Sustainable Forest Management Network, Networks of Centres of Excellence, is the 2009 recipient of the Canadian Institute of Forestry's (CIF) much coveted Canadian Forest Management Group Achievement Award.  The CIF chose the Network because of its excellent work in advancing and applying interdisciplinary forest science across Canada over the past 14 years, and for its support of, and contributions to, the Institute during that time.

The SFM Network, as represented by Board Chair Fraser Dunn and Scientific Director Dr. Jim Fyles, accepted the award for the Network's numerous accomplishments, and on behalf of the hundreds of researchers and 1600 students who have been associated with the SFM Network during its 14 year run as one of Canada's Networks of Centres of Excellence.   During that time, the Network successfully contested five (5) international peer reviews.  Dunn and Fyles received the award on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at the Institute's national conference held in Nanaimo, B.C. at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre.
