This was a team of students from the University of Alberta entered in the International Genetically Engineered Machines competition.   <\/p>\n<p> The group developed a novel way to turn butanol into a bio-fuel. <\/p>\n<p> Today, Justin is a PhD student at Cambridge University.  And he was in Edmonton recently as a judge at the iGEM workshop to prepare Alberta&rsquo;s entries into the 2010 iGEM competition. <\/p>\n<p><strong> JUSTIN PAHARA:  <\/strong><em>   One of the things I&rsquo;ve got my eye on is how these ideas can be translated into products and how we can begin to create a bigger bio-industry in Alberta    Another thing is just looking at team dynamics, the idea of  interdisciplinary research.   iGEM really brings this together.
