{"id":840,"date":"2010-06-22T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2010-06-22T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.innovationanthology.com\/import\/2018\/02\/01\/innovation-anthology-324\/"},"modified":"2018-02-25T21:30:16","modified_gmt":"2018-02-25T21:30:16","slug":"innovation-anthology-324","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.innovationanthology.com\/import\/2010\/06\/22\/innovation-anthology-324\/","title":{"rendered":"Innovation Anthology #324:"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/innovationanthology.com\/uploads\/Innovation Anthology 324.mp3\">Download MP3 Link<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\nOne of the finalists in this year\u2019s Emerald Awards for Environmental Excellence was JK Trucking of Lethbridge.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nIn 2008, JK Trucking became the first company in Canada to integrate a 10.5 percent blend of biodiesel into its fleet.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nAnd according to company president John Koliaska, the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions is the equivalent of keeping 1500 cars off the road.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nAs John Koliaska explains, JK Trucking collaborated with Olds College to track the performance of its blend of biodiesel.\n<\/p>\n<p><b><br \/>\nJOHN KOLIASKA: <\/b><em>We did a comprehensive study over a one year period tracking 2.5 million data points.    There\u2019s been zero negative aspects of any of that in terms of efficiencies or productivity with the bio diesel usage.  On the flip side, maintenance intervals, soot and particulate buildup in the engine, have been reduced and no negative effects in terms of economy.
