{"id":2321,"date":"2017-10-17T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-10-17T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.innovationanthology.com\/import\/2018\/02\/01\/innovation-anthology-905\/"},"modified":"2018-03-22T21:43:14","modified_gmt":"2018-03-22T21:43:14","slug":"innovation-anthology-905","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.innovationanthology.com\/import\/2017\/10\/17\/innovation-anthology-905\/","title":{"rendered":"#905: TEC Edmonton Merck Accelerator: Chris Lumb"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/innovationanthology.com\/uploads\/Innovation Anthology 905.mp3\">Download MP3 Link<\/a><\/p>\n<div>TEC Edmonton will soon provide a new home for several startups in health technology.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>It&rsquo;s called the TEC Edmonton Merck Accelerator<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>And it&rsquo;s a collaboration that includes pharmaceutical giant Merck Canada, and many other partners in government and academia.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Chris Lumb is TEC Edmonton&rsquo;s CEO.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>CHRIS LUMB:<\/strong> <em>This will provide infrastructure and more space for companies that need lab infrastructure as part of their growth. &nbsp;So they will have that. &nbsp;But they will also have access to Merck scientists and Merck managers and to our executives in residence who are all people who have all built their own companies successfully. &nbsp;So they get direct industry involvement. They get mentorship from entrepreneurs. &nbsp;They get access to space<\/em><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>A central feature of the new Accelerator is construction of a wet lab facility at TEC Edmonton. &nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>CHRIS LUMB<\/strong>: &nbsp;<em>Well, these are all life sciences or health technology companies and they mostly need to have laboratory infrastructure as part of what they&rsquo;re doing.
