Startup Canada recently came to Edmonton to present its 2016 awards to recognize entrepreneurs in the Prairie Region.  <\/p>\n

Among those stepping up to the podium was Dr. Nancy Markley of Calgary.<\/p>\n

Trained in biotechnology, Nancy is the founder and CEO of MpowRX Health and Wellness Products.<\/p>\n

She’s also the new Prairie Region’s Woman Entrepreneur of the Year.  <\/p>\n

DR. NANCY MARKLEY: <\/span>  We’re in 85 countries today.  We’re looking at expanding into new international markets.  Brazil, Mexico, Africa.  We want to basically blanket the globe.  We want to be able to bring our products to people who are in need wherever they may be all over the world. <\/span> <\/p>\n

Nancy started MpowRX twenty years ago while raising a young family.  Her goal was to market a device to treat sleep apnea.     <\/p>\n

DR. NANCY MARKLEY:  <\/span>  We’re also looking at other products.  So we’re working on the next generation of our medical device which is aimed towards children.  And sleep apnea and snoring in children is growing at an alarming rate, primarily because of obesity, but other reasons as well.  
<\/span>
Dr. Nancy Markley says her company is also moving into nutritional products with clinical applications.
