{"id":1802,"date":"2015-08-04T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-08-04T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.innovationanthology.com\/import\/2018\/02\/01\/innovation-anthology-704\/"},"modified":"2018-02-25T21:31:04","modified_gmt":"2018-02-25T21:31:04","slug":"innovation-anthology-704","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.innovationanthology.com\/import\/2015\/08\/04\/innovation-anthology-704\/","title":{"rendered":"Innovation Anthology #704:"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/innovationanthology.com\/uploads\/Innovation Anthology 704.mp3\">Download MP3 Link<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Innovation in reclamation and sustainable land stewardship are two  guiding principals at Capital Power&#8217;s Genesee power plant west of  Edmonton.<\/p>\n<p>The person looking after the daily nuts and bolts of that commitment is Land Use Coordinator, <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Jennifer Linder.<br \/><\/span><br \/>Jennifer grew up a country girl, very involved in 4H and she has an applied degree from Olds Agricultural College.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">JENNIFER  LINDER: <\/span>&nbsp; <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Depending on the day, &nbsp;I&#8217;ve had days from finding wild  animals in places that they shouldn&#8217;t be, to bringing my horse to work  to move cattle on our community pasture, different community events and  speaking with members of the public in the neighbourhood, <\/span><\/p>\n<p>At its  Genesee operation, Capital Power rents out about 3500 acres for crops  to 13 local families and the Warburg Hutterite Colony. &nbsp;And then there&#8217;s  5000 acres for cattle grazing.<br \/><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><br \/>JENNIFER LINDER:<\/span> &nbsp; <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Capital Power  runs a community pasture operation at Genesee. &nbsp;It&#8217;s run in house. &nbsp;We  hire two local cowboys to look after the cattle throughout year. &nbsp;We  have a dozen local farmers that bring their cattle to pasture.
