<\/span>recent report from the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Alberta Biodiversity Monitoring Institute<\/span> looked at species vulnerability to climate change.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size:9.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;\nfont-family:&quot;Trebuchet MS&quot;\"><\/span><span style=\"font-size:9.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;\nfont-family:&quot;Trebuchet MS&quot;\">According wildlife biologist and co-author <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Dr. Christopher Shank<\/span>, the study focused on 173 species including plants, birds, mammals, insects, reptiles and amphibians.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size:9.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;\nfont-family:&quot;Trebuchet MS&quot;\">He says even if animals can pick up and move as conditions change, they may not find a suitable habitat elsewhere.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>One of them is that amphibians are the group that are most at risk from climate change.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>Birds and mammals are less because of that ability to move.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span>The other thing is that, particularly in the southeastern part of the province,<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>the barriers to movement which are put up by the large expanse of crops, the many roads, the urbanization, they are going to pose a barrier to dispersal of some of the southeastern species.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp;
